There was no honest playbook for building in Africa. So we wrote one.

Ace Mobility

Kenya · Accessible transport

Ace Mobility provides door-to-door transport for wheelchair users, people with limited mobility and the elderly, in a city where public transport assumes you can climb into it. One of its co-founders is blind, and more than 20,000 clients have used the service. We worked with the team on the tension at the centre of the business and built the measurement they could run without us.

The Challenge

The rides that matter most are rarely the rides that pay best. Corporate staff contracts carried the volume at thin margins, the accessible rides carried the mission at harder economics, and that tension was being resolved by accident, month after month.

Our Approach

We brought the trade-off into the open so it could be made on purpose. Owning a fleet gave way to adapting third-party vehicles, an asset-light model reached by decision rather than drift, and we built a measurement set the team could maintain without us.

When a business serves people the market has ignored, the hardest question is never the product. It is how honestly the company faces the trade-off it was built on.
